Roxalana Project (Preschool Flower Beds)

  1. Spring clean up of flowerbeds including mulching, planting and trimming.
  2. Setting up several planters of flowers.

Lunch Prep for New Life Baptist Church (Full)
Project Manager:  Lisa Herlihy
Scope of Work:  River Ridge has a very special relationship with Reverend Ealy and the members of New Life Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on the Westside.  One of their members, Teresa Brown, prepares, cooks and serves lunch to her Church every Sunday.  This team will be giving Teresa a break by preparing and cooking lunch for the Church.  
Project is Kid friendly? Yes, middle school and older with a parent.

Serving Lunch to New Life Baptist Church (Full)
Project Manager:  Lisa Herlihy
Scope of Work:  River Ridge has a very special relationship with Reverend Ealy and the members of New Life Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on the Westside.  One of their members, Teresa Brown, prepares, cooks and serves lunch to her Church every Sunday.  This team will be giving Teresa a break by transporting the food (made earlier) from 2nd Avenue CC to the Church activities building, decorating the venue, serving lunch and cleaning up.

*This project runs from 11:30 am. - 2:30 pm.

Neighbor to Neighbor Westside

Scope of Work:  This is a very special project as we come along a Westside resident and help with much-needed home improvements. Work will include wall repair, window & fixture replacement and electrical work.  There will also be a small outside gardening project.

Scope of Work:  Repair porch including underpinning; flowers for flower pots and beds; install outdoor benches for playground area; install automatic paper towel dispensers; repair sidewalk; stain deck floor.

Hubbard Hospice House Meal Prep

Scope of Work: Preparing meals for patients and their families including simple casseroles and some cookies or brownies.  Adults only are allowed to visit with patients and their families afterward (with the family's permission). 
Project is Kid friendly? Yes, but only for the meal prep part.  There is a kid's playroom off the kitchen if a volunteer's child doesn't want to help with the cooking or baking.  Children are not allowed to visit patients and families.

Valley Health Nursing Home

Scope of Work:  Visit and interact with the residents by playing games, reading, crafts, coffee corner, and prayer.  Outside there will be an opportunity to plant vegetables with the residents.

RIVER RIDGE YOUTH PROJECTS

CLB for Littles - Charleston Campus
Project Manager: Betsy Shaak
Location - River Ridge Church, Charleston, 9:30 am-10:30 am.
Preschool children age 2-5 are invited to come to River Ridge Church at 9:30 during Church Has Left the Building for a serving project designed just for littles. 
**This project is NOT a drop-off childcare service.  Preschool age children will need to be under the supervision of an adult caretaker.  Children and their caretaker will be led through a short lesson about childhood hunger and then participate in packing backpack blessing bags for children who attend the 2nd Avenue Center in Charleston.
